The Lakeville North Boys Basketball Association 10,000 Shot Club is a program designed to improve shooting skills over the summer.

This program is primarily for boys in the Lakeville North High School district from kindergarten through 8th grade. Participants in grades K-2 can aim for a 5,000 shot goal, while those in 3rd-8th grade should strive for 10,000 shots. Only players who achieve their set goal (5,000 for K-2nd or 10,000 for 3rd-8th) will receive a t-shirt and recognition at a varsity basketball game.

To track your shots for the 2025 Program, please use the "Log Shots" button at the top of this page to access the 10K Shot Club App. While you can also track shots using paper with our printable form, we strongly encourage using the app for timely entry. This allows players to see their peers' progress quickly, fostering a bit of friendly competition. We recommend logging shots daily, but weekly entries are acceptable if daily isn't feasible. The app is designed for easy digital tracking, whether parents are assisting younger children or older players are logging their own shots with parental guidance. Please remember that shot tracking relies on the honor system, so accuracy is important.

You can watch this video to learn more.

The dates for the 2025 program are June 8th through September 27th.

Yes, you can enter 100 shots per day for camps.

For players 3rd grade and older, you must use a 10-foot basketball hoop. Younger grades may use a 9-foot or the highest height their strength allows.

At least one tracking must be submitted by 8/1/2025 to be eligible and all tracking must be finalized by 10/5/2025.

Yes. In the 10K Shot Club App, a parent can set a new player shot total goal to keep the player motivated. At the end of the program, all players will be able to see how they rank and place among their friends and peers. The more shots tracked, the higher the player's ranking.

Size depends on age. Ages 9 and under use a size 5 basketball (27.5 inches). Ages 12 and under use a size 6 basketball (28.5 inches). Older boys use a size 7 basketball (29.5 inches).

Yes, but 10,000 shots may be too much for boys K-2nd. Set a smaller goal of 5000 shots in the player profile of the 10K Shot Club app. Only those reaching the 5,000 (K-2nd) or 10,000 (3rd-8th) goal can qualify for a t-shirt and recognition at a basketball game.

It is a basketball model to improve shooting accuracy and consistency.

B - Balance:
Maintain a stable base with feet shoulder-width apart, knees bent, and hips square to the target.

E - Eyes:
Focus your eyes on the target, whether it's the rim or a specific point on it, to ensure accuracy.

E - Elbow:
Keep your shooting elbow tucked in and aligned with your shooting hand's target, creating a straight line for the shot.

F - Follow-through:
Extend your shooting arm and fingers towards the target, and maintain that position as the ball leaves your hand.

The 10K Shot Club App allows you to remove shots if too many were added. A negative entry will be added to the shot log.

No. Parents must set up an account using a parent email address. Once set up, a parent adds the player to their account. This is so parents can monitor their players activity.

Yes. You will set up with one player to begin with, and then you can add more players on the Family screen. You can switch between players on the main screen.

No, but parents should review shots logged. It should reflect approximate time spent shooting for that day. For example, logging 1000 shots in a day is not typical. A good rule of thumb is probably 100 shots a day on average for most serious players. Eager players might have higher peaks of 200 to 400 for an hour of shooting. There is a log button in the 10K Shot Club app that will allow you to review shots logged.

No, it is free and just some sweat equity!

Shoot shots from all over the court and different types of shots. Left and right-side layups, free throws, elbow shots (free throw corners), mid-range shots (shots between hoop and 3-point line) at five typical spots: left, diagonal left, center, diagonal right, right, shots at the 3-point line at five typical spots as well (left wing, left slot, top of the key, right slot, right wing). Focus on shooting shots correctly and not just putting up 1000 quick short shots in an incorrect way.

No. The player should be counting as they go. They can use tricks such as shooting 10 shots at 10 spots on the court for easier math counting to get to 100.

For players who track their own shots, establishing a routine with a memorable number of shots can be helpful. For example, taking 10 shots from 10 different spots on the court will consistently result in 100 shots. Parents who prefer to manually track can use an inexpensive handheld click counter. Alternatively, you can use the 10K Shot Club App directly on your phone or download a separate click counter app and then input the totals into the 10K Shot Club App. While "smart" basketballs with built-in tracking exist (currently mainly for iPhone users and often requiring a subscription), as well as Bluetooth net counters and Dr. Dish shooting machines (also typically with subscriptions), remember that all shots must be entered into the official 10K Shot Club app to receive credit.
